Local Bard's Players is a troupe of actors, educators, and Shakespeare-lovers from Tufts University committed to expanding arts education in the greater Boston area. Ever since our founding in 2014, we create, condense, and perform adaptations of the Bard's greatest works, bringing entertainment and education to local elementary- and middle-schoolers. The goal of our work is to make classic works as accessible and engaging as possible, which we do by integrating colloquial language, modern humor, and goofy costumes and props with original text. We bring Shakespeare's rich, intricate worlds to life, and we don't take them too seriously!
Our members come from all over the country (and world) and study a range of academic majors at Tufts. Several of our alumni have pursued successful careers in education, Shakespeare programming, media production, and professional acting. But we've also got computer programmers, filmmakers, biologists, and more! We love talking about the Bard and his stories, and we welcome anyone interested in Shakespeare, education, and performance to get in touch!
