LBP offers adaptations of Shakespeare's most famous works that are suitable for elementary- and middle-schoolers. All plays run about 40-45 minutes and are appropriate for school settings. We always offer the opportunity of a post-show Q&A or talkback with the audience, and we have found these to be hugely rewarding for us and our audiences both.
Below is a library of all the adaptations we offer. For Spring 2024, the shows we will be performing are bolded below: Romeo and Juliet, Much Ado About Nothing, & Macbeth

Much Ado About Nothing! When two sparring frenemies get stuck in the same house, their friends take it upon themselves to play matchmaker between them. Everyone's in on the game, except for the lovers-to-be themselves! Throw in two conniving villains, two bumbling police officers, and a masquerade ball, and you've got a comedy-plus-love-story that's great for all ages.

Julius CaesarCaesar thinks he's the most brilliant ruler ever on Earth, but his fellow Senators aren't so sure. When a bitter scheme leads to an assassination, the conspirators are left to reckon with their actions and pick up the pieces of the Roman empire. (No graphic violence or dry history, we promise!)

Romeo and JulietWhen these two star-crossed lovers fall for each other despite the bloody feuding of their families, not even the best efforts of a spunky nurse and a benevolent friar can save the day. Our spin on this epic love story is accessible, engaging, and, at times, even laugh-out-loud funny. A perfect way to introduce an audience to a tragedy that's not too heavy.

A Midsummer Night's DreamFour lovers enter the woods outside Athens in pursuit of forbidden love. Or is it unrequited love? Could it be both? Toss in some mischievous fairies, love potions gone wrong, and an actor-turned-donkey, and you've got one of Shakespeare's most beloved and magical comedies. Great for all ages, but especially a favorite of younger kids.

MacbethWhen Macbeth receives a prophecy predicting that he'll be the king of Scotland, he and his wife will stop at nothing to reach the throne. But dark omens and moving trees lurk on the horizon... Let our band of witches guide you through the rise and fall of an ambitious war general in Shakespeare's spookiest tale, complete with ghosts, cauldrons, sword-fights, and more! Still very kid-friendly!
